OK! Before anybody FREAKS over what INTRUDN might say on this subject, let me say this: I too am happy with my Spiritual Life and will try my darndest not to offend anyone with my response (which will take considerable effort!).
I like the way you handled the situation Mike: "I'll listen if you will". That is exactly the way I handle these things. I had an experience recently that I think is hilarious. I was out in the yard, under my favorite shade tree working on one of our bikes when a carload of what I like to call "Roadside Witnesses" pulled into the drive. I call them that because most of the time, if they can see you from the roadside, they set their sights on you and here they come! (Sometimes they come even if they don't see anybody, just to see if somebody is home--in this day and age, that can get you shot!)
Anyway, there I was, adding some more skulls to my bike (I have over ten now), and they just started talking to me. They didn't pay too much attention to the bike at first, until the youngest of the bunch (probably about six years old) whispered something to one of the older ones and pointed at my bike. Well, that was the funniest looking face I ever saw! Then they took a real good look at me for the first time and noticed my tattoo's (I was wearing a sleeveless shirt). Their jaws dropped! I guess they thought they had met the Devil himself! Ha-ha! They did an about-face without another word. I never even got to say "Howdy" to them.
I guess my point is, that you can't judge the book by the cover. I am a God fearing Christian, and I hope that doesn't offend anyone, but if it does, sorry, that's who I am. They didn't want to talk to me after they thought I was an "evil biker" I guess. Sounds like your encounter was with the same breed of folks as my visitors. It really cracks me up! SCAREDY CATS! If they believe so much in what they preach, then why do they have fear? Do they not feel protected by a "Supreme Power" at all times? I know I do. To ride a bike, you sorta have to believe in something like that, Ya know?
There, I'm done now. I haven't started a good BOO-HOO session around here in a while, so I'm ready if you are! COME AND GET ME! HAHAHAHA!
